Friday Although ho was strongly opposed to cruelty ho was not opposed to the shooting of birds in the open, tht> Minister of Internal Affairs, tho Hon. W. E. Parry, told a deputation from tho New Zealand Federation of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, when he was asked this morning to pass legislation restricting certain sporting activities. Shooting of birds in the open was great training, in character, he said, and tho shooting of pigeons in gun trials was practically confined to export shots who could kill their birds instantaneously.
