HORSEFLESH AS FOOD
CAMPAIGN TO POPULARISE NAZI SELF-SUFFICIENCY PLAN BERLIN, July 7 The authorities are popularising the consumption of horseflesh under General Goering's four-year self-sufficiency plan. At the first meeting of the "Horseflesh Guild" in Dussoklorf, it was pointed out that the Germans' ancestors enjoyed horseflesh on ceremonial occasions, although Christianity discouraged its consumption as a heathen custom. It was more nutritious than beef, veal or pork. There are now 25 horseflesh guilds in Germany, embracing 1200 businesses.
