PLUNKET COMMITTEE
NORTHCOTE ACTIVITIES The monthly meeting of the Northcote Plunket Committee held this week was attended by the president, Mrs. A. Campbell, and Mesdames J. W. Lethbridge, W. P. Hay, W. E. Carter, P. J. Hawke, W. F. Ward, L. G. Gimblett, A. Stihvell, A. E. Clark, E. A. Campbell, M. S. Davis, D. H. Opperman, I. Morrison, P. C. Cross, S. T. Carter, A. J. W. Hodder, A. C. T. Winkelmann and W. K. A. Stewart. The secretary, Mrs. Lethbridge, reported that the financial result of the annual Plunket ball at Northcoto was better than the previous year. The president, Mrs. A. Campbell, congratulated members on tho success of their efforts. It was reported that voluntary transport for the Plunket nurse for the past month had been provided by Mesdames E. Chambers, N. E. Heath, A. Sterling, L. T. Hayman and N. J. Campbell. Four new members of tho Junior League were welcomed. A sewing circle, comprising Mesdames A. Campbell, W. E. Carter, W. F. Ward, S. T. Carter and I. Morrison, was appointed to work in connection with requirements for the Karitanc Hospital. Mesdamos P. J. Hawko and J. W. Lethbridge were appointed to represent the committee at tho gathering of the Catholic Women's League on Friday evening, when Dr. A. B. O'Brien, of Cliristchurch, is to give a talk on "Modem Social Evils and tho Problems They Create." Mrs. W. Carter reported tho results of tho annual meeting of headquarters at Auckland. The hope was expressed that after tho meeting next Wednesday of the Auckland headquarters a nurse would bo available for tho Northcote and Birkenhead districts, to relieve the pressure of work experienced for some time.
