LAUNCH CHANGES HANDS
RAKANUI FOR AUCKLAND . [FROM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT] WHANGAHEI, Thursday With the sailing of the Rakanui for Auckland to-day, tho Whangarei waterfront has lost one of its best trading and pleasure launches. The Raka- ; 11 ui has been sold by Captain W. R. Patterson to Captain ,T. D. Bell, who, ifc is understood, intends using the launch for "passenger ferrying. Tho Rakanui was built by Bailey and Lowe, of Auckland, for Captain Patterson at a cost of over £4OOO 11 years ago. Until about three years ago tho vessel was engaged in towing punts up and down the coast and in running excursions on the Whangarei harbour. It has been practically idle during the, past three years. Tho launch is 50ft. in length, has a beam of 12ft, 9in., and draws five foot. It is well appointed and attractive and is driven by two engines. Captains Patterson and Bell arfe sailing tho Rakanui to Auckland.
