CONGESTION ON RAILWAY
RESULT OF FLOOD IN NORTH [from our ows correspondent] WHANGAREI. Thursday As the result of the interruption of the railway service last week through flooding, the accumulation of freight has been so great that the Railway Department is working at full pressure in order to overtake the arrears.. Four special goods trains loaded to capacity went north yesterday and several / hundreds of tons have yet to be shifted. An extra engine with staff arrived from Auckland.- It is expected that everything will be back to normal before the week-end. The staff during the past 10 days have been working verv long hours, and it lias been very . difficult to obtain crews for the number of special trains required.
