TRAFFIC CONTROL
DISCONTENT AT DARGAViLLE CRITICISM OF THE COUNCIL [by telegraph OWN correspondent] DARGAVILLE, Thursday Taxi-drivers and others commented adversely at a special meeting of the Dargaviile Borough Council last evening 011 the arrangements for regulating traffic and parking places in the town. The Mayor, Mr. F. A. Jones, in inviting suggestions, • remarked 011 the unsatisfactory way in which traffic was being regulated in some parts of the town, mentioning particularly the congestion in the main street. Mr. T. W. McKay outlined a proposaffor the centralising of all transport facilities through a main central ° The Mavor said that the counci) did not feel disposed to purchase a block of land or even to rent one. A proposal to move the taxi stand from tho centre oi the town was opposed by drivers. "There is traffic congestion * almost everywhere in Dargaviile 011 account of the lack of proper control,*' said Mr. C. Vause. The traffic inspector, Mr. U. Al. Klein, said he could get no co-opcra-tion l'rom any of the taxi-drivers. The Mayor thanked those who had attended and promised that their arguments would be considered.
