METAL recovery continues

The continued recovery of metal shares and further advances in giltedged stock marked operations on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. I- The investment market was more active, but the increased business was n ot done at the expense of holders. Sellers of Government loans have been so difficult to locate recently that the quotation on the market of several parcels brought in buyers strongly and levels were lifted in dealing. Banks were about steady. A concession by holders of New Zealands resulted in-active trading at late rates. There was a good demand for Commercials of Australia at the recently improved levels. Sellers of Unions had A firmer idea of values. Insurances remained quietly strong, while there was little change in the classified groups. \ feature of the industrials was a r i EU in Colonial Sugars on a strong buying market. The steady improve- ; jnent in metals continued, both Broken Hill Proprietary and Electrolytic Zinc j making strong forward movements in brisk trading. Australian Glass eased slightly, while Duniop-Perdriaus were • steach". After opening weakly. Taranaki Oils recovered to-current levels. Offers for Wilsons Cement were easier at the .close.
