Miss A. M. Griffin, principal of Dudley House school for Indian girls at Suva, Fiji, has been spending the past six months on sick leave in Christchurch. She will leave on Friday on the first stage of her return to Fiji.

At a meeting of the Mothers' Club of the Y.W.C.A., presided over by Mrs. W. J. Hynes, the Rev. H. Squires addressed members, his subject being " Tho Gipsies of the New Forest." A scone competition was won by Mrs. E. Hay. Tea was served by Mesdames Cooper, Yallop and Pocock.

Prior to their departure from Tatuanui to take up their residence at Motumaoho, Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Copestake were presented with a fountain pen. and set of china respectively from the . ping pong and tennis clubs of Tatuanui. Mr. A. L. Wratt made the presentation.

A concert organised by the Returned Soldiers' Association at Devonport was held in the Masonic Hall on Tuesday night. The items were all given by members' children, and included a chorus and a presentation of "The Wedding of tho Painted Doll." Individual items ivero also given.
