NEW WORD REQUIRED
Sir, —There certainly does seem to be a lack of an adjective to fit the noun New Zealand; but surely not "New Zealian" ! New Zealian does not correspond to "Australian," "Canadian," "South African,'-.' etc., but to "Ganian," "Afrian" or "Austrian." England may be the land of the Engles. but New Zealand is not named from the New Zeals! Surely "Zealandic" would be the only thing possible—"New Zealandic" if you like. Personally (this is only one man's idea and of no great value), I am hoping to see the day when the entire name of this Dominion of New Zealand is changed. Why not "Sealand?" After all, this country, has no existing connection with the Dutch province of Zceland, nor with its namesake, the Danish island; while it undeniably is the most son-girdled State in the world. W. Jameson.
