FORMER ALL BLACK
J. R. PAGE PLAYS AGAIN
J. R. Pngp, the well-known 19.'11 -.32-34-3.5 All Black, made a welcome return to the game in a recent club match in Christehiirch, when he took the field against Old Boys for Christehiirch in the second spell upon the retirement of a back owing to an injury. Page went to his place at first fiveeighths, and immediately showed his calibre as a fine attacking and defensive plaver. He made a number of fast penetrating runs and was conspicuous for many neat saves.
Page l toured Great Britain with the 1935 team, but was unfortunately injured commencement of the tour and played in only three games. It was the opinion of prominent critics that had Page been available during the tour the team would have been a far stronger attacking combination closer to the scrum. He was sndlv missed, as no other five-eighths in the side was so quiek off the mark and his equal at finding openings.
