NEW ZEALAND STOCKS REASSURANCE IN LONDON STATEMENTS BY MR. SAVAGE [from our own corrkspondknt] LONDON, May If) Statements made by the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Mr. Savage, since his arrival in England have done a groat deal to reassure the City as to New Zealand's determination to meet her financial obligations. " Holders of New Zealand securities should be reassured bv the very explicit statement by Mr. M. J. Savage that the Government is able and prepared to meet its obligations to the full," wrote Mr. R. J. Barrett, financial editor of the Sunday Times. " A suggestion that New Zealand contemplates cutting interest rates was characterised as absurd. That some anxiety has provailed in this connection is shown by the extent of the fall in prices of New Zealand securities from tho highest points of recent years. At tho present time they offer very attractive yields in comparison with those of other Dominions and are well worth the consideration of investors."
