"MERRY WIDOW" SEASON A matinee performance will bo given this afternoon by the J. C. Williamson, Limited Comie Opera Company, headed by Miss Gladys Monci'iefl', of Franz Lehar's beautiful operetta ''The Merry Widow," which is attracting large audiences to His Majesty's Theatre. Miss Mohcricff is singing in excellent form, and for her splendid rendering of "Villia" she nightly receives at least two encores. "The Merry Widow" will be repeated tonight and on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday afternoon and evening and following five nights the company will appear in the delightful musical romance "The Maid of the Mountains," in which Miss Moncrielf, in the role of Teresa, has achieved one of her best successes. The numbers allocated to her role include "Love Will Find a Way," which has been frequently heard over the air. "The Maid of the Mountains'' is one of the best of romantic musical comedy and it gains greatly by contrast with the variety of musical comedy which is neither musical nor comic. The cast of the approaching production of "The Maid of the Mountains" includes all the artists who are proving successful in "The Merry Widow." The final production of tne season will bo "A Southern Maid," which recently onjoyed a record season in Australia.
