ONE-SIDED MATCH

RICHMOND'S BIG SCORE * The game on No. 2 ground between Richmond and Marist was much too one-sided to be of interest, and had Richmond seized all Ite-opportunities the final margin of 55 points

to 15 in its favour would have been increased considerably. Marist had an off day, its defence being weak, and with the loss of the fullback, Glover, and Midgley, threequarter, ear(.v in the second half, both of whom retired with injuries, the opposition had little difficulty in breaking through to pile up the points. Richmond scored within halt a minute of the start and at half-time had established the commanding lead of 27 points to 7.

Richmond had almost a monopoly of the ball from the scrums and its handling was more certain. The outstanding player was McLeod, ex-Taranaki representative forward. He figured in most of the attacking movements and Showed pace and handling ability much above the average, running (iOyds for one of his tries. Mitchell was also impressive. He has quickly assimilated the ideas essential to success at the League game. Saturday's game suited Tetley's roving style. V. Tittletotl found endless opportunity for his flair for cutting through the defence, and Mincham and Bickerton were always handy. The Marist inside backs lacked combination and tackled poorly, thus adding to the work of the forwards, already overshadowed by the opposing pack. Glover saved well until his retirement, but there was a lack of seriousness in the defensive efforts and passing of the remainder of the rearguard. Marist showed a trlimpse of its real form only in the opening stages of the second half, when H temporarily held the upper hand and registered two tries in quick succession before Richmond settled down again. Anderson and Breed were prominent among the forwards. For Richmond tries were scored by Mitchell (3), McLeod CJ), Tetley C_»), Bickerton (•_'), Hadley, Wilkie,. Davis and Mincham. G. Tittleton "and Mincham each converted four. For Marist K. Finlayson, McLaren and McGreal scored tries. Anderson converted one and also kicked two penalty goals. Mr. M. Wetherill was referee.
