all departments. Newton put up a good showing, particularly in the first half, when it was unlucky to miss two tries. Good defence by the Newton backs was a feature of the game. Play in the second half was confined to the forwards and there were few combined movements.
Mount Albert asserted its superiority in the second half when sweeping forward rushes kept" Newton on defence. Near tho end of the game Newton was unlucky to lose Mollis, who was taken to hospital, suffering from a head injury, The best try of the game camo from a nice movement by the Mount Albert backs. L. Schultz and Hassan were associated in clever play after Allen and Watkins had handled, and Stewart scored. For Mount Albert Cranch played a sound game at fullback and made few mistakes. Stewart showed a lot, of dash on the wing but lacked opportunities, L. Schultz was good on attack, while his brother, J. Schultz, did much effective stopping. Hassan played well at five-eighths, as did Watkins at halfback. Shadbolt, Hansen and Allen were the pick of the forwards. For Newton Brimblc, Crook and Newton were the best of thb backs. Beattie, Smith and Reed were good workers among the forwards. For Mount Albert tries were scored by Hassan, Stewurt and Watkins. Cranch kicked a penalty goal. Mr. P. Rogers was referee.
