CORONATION MEDALS

OVERSEAS CONTIN.GENTS SIR H. CHAUVEL TO COMMAND (Received May 0. 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, May 8 General Sir Henry Chauvel, honorary colonel of the Ninth (North Auckland) New Zealand Mounted Rifles and the lOtli and loth Australian Light Horse Regiments, will command the overseas contingents at the distribution of the Coronation medals, which will take placo at Buckingham Palace on May 14. Sir Henry Chauvel was born in New South Wales and joined the Army in Australia. He was a Brigadier-General when the Great War broke out and became a general in 1929. He was connected with the Dominion troops at Gallipoli, Egypt and Sinai.

Fleet under the command of Admiral Sir Roger Backhouse, which are to be stationed on the Thames for the Coronation, arrived yesterday. Before noon they had taken up positions between Southend and the London Docks. The warships number 34 and will provide spectators with the most impressive display of naval strength seen for years. All the vessels will be open to the public until May 13, when they will proceed to Portsmouth in readiness for the Spithekd naval review on May 20.
