VANDALS IN PARK

COLOURED LIGHTS BROKEN DECORATIONS AT WHANGAREI [from ouk owx correspondent] "WHANGAREI, Sunday A case of vandalism was' discovered yesterday morning at Central Park, Whangarei. A large number of coloured globes to be used for illuminating the park during Coronation week were found to be broken. The electrical engineer, Mr. W. J. Dawson, said a large number of the globes were broken as the result of stone-throwing. It was also believed that many were broken by the firing of an airgun. It was impossible to say at present how many had been broken, but indications pointed to several score. The financial loss was considerable, as each globe cost the Borough Council 2s 4d.
