ASSOCIATION GAME

SENIOR GRADE CONTESTS THIRD SERIES DECIDED SEVERAL SURPRISE RESULTS Strenuous and interesting football was provided by the third series of senior Soccer matches played under tl>e control of the Auckland Association on Saturday. The grounds, although firm underneath, were greasy on the surface, but the majority of the teams were able to adjust themselves to the difficult conditions and the play for the most part was of a fast and spectacular nature.

The least interesting match of the series was the principal game at Blandford Park between Comrades and Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys. Although well contested, tho match lacked tho sparkle of the other games. Comrades registered a surprise by beating its strong opponents. Thistle also upset calculations by accounting for Ponsonby in the curtain-raiser, while Abels, in defeating North Shore at Devonport, revealed unexpected strength. The results were as follows: — Comrades, 5; Old Boys, 1. Thistle, 6; Ponsonby, 3. Abels, 5; North Shore, 4.
