FARMERS ON TOUR

PARTY FROM WESTLAND VISIT TO WAIKATO SHOW A party of 92 Westland farmers who are visiting the North Island on a tonr organised by the Westland branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union reached Auckland by the express from Wellington yesterday morning. The party will spend to-day in Auckland, leaving for Hamilton by the afternoon express for the Waikato Winter Show. Leaving Greymouth on Monday last the party reached Wellington on' Tuesday, leaving again for Wanganui the same day. After a day spent in the Wanganui district they left for New Plymouth. They joined the Welling-ton-Auckland express at Taumarunui. early yesterday morning, reaching Auckland at 7.6 a.m. The farmers were accommodated at the Auckland and Waverley Hotels, yesterday being a free day. They will be taken for a tour of the city and environs this morning and at' 10.30 a.m. will be the guests of the management of the Farmers' Trading Company at morning tea. The rest of the day will be free, but the party will leave for Frankton at three o'clock this afternoon; They will be the guests of the Wai- > kato sub-provincial branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union at a social gathering this evening. To-morrow morning a visit will be paid to the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company's casein, boxmaking and butter factory at Frankton, while in the afternoon the party will attend the ofticia] opening of the Waikato Winter Show. Some of the party will attend the Rugby football match between Auckland and Waikato on Coronation Day, while others will have an opportunity of visiting the Arapuni station.

A visit will be paid to the farm of Dr. H. E. Annett, at Matangi, on Thursday morning, and in tlio afternoon the Ruakura State Farm will be inspected. The party will leave for th« South the same evening. The itinerary for the Auckland Province has been arranged by the Railway Department in conjunction with the "NYaikato sub - provincial branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, and officials of the department are travelling with the party.
