MOTHER'S DAY
SERVICES IN AUCKLAND
OBSERVATION IN CHURCHES
Mother's Day was observed in many Auckland churches yesterday with special prayers, hymns and addresses. In some instances the morning service was set apart for the purpose and the evening service was made preparatory to the Coronation. In others the two observances were combined. At the Baptist Tabernacle a special tribute was paid bv the Rev. Dr. Alexander Hodge to Her Majesty Queen Marv, as a splendid example of motherhood and an example to all mothers at the presort time. At the Pitt Street Methodist Church both services were devoted to the festival and the Coronation commemoration was deferred until next Sunday. A Mother's Day youth rally under the auspices of the Y.M.C.A. was held in the Town Hall in the afternoon and was addressed by Dr. T. Z. Koo, of the World Student Christian Federation.
