BRASS BAND'S PLIGHT
CONDITION OF INSTRUMENTS [BY TELEGItAJPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] PALMEKSTON NORTH, Thursday Bands from all over New Zealand have been invited to hold their 19138 contest in Palmerstou North in February, yet it looks as if the city itself will bo in the ludicrous position of not having its A grade band competing. This state of affairs was revealed at the annual meeting this evening of the Palmorston North Garrison Band, when it was reported that the majority of their instruments were in such a condition that they would be useless for contest purposes, and were falling to pieces, while some wore tied up with string and others patched with adhesive tape. Suggestions for raising funds were noted for the consideration of the executive.
