MAY DAY SPEECH APATHETIC LISTENERS RESULTS OF DICTATORSHIP PAIN CAUSED TO VATICAN By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received May 3, 5.40 p.m.) LONDON, May 2 The Berlin correspondent of the Daily Telegraph states that Hcrr Hitler's speech on May Day at the Lustgarten was heard by the most unenthusiastie crowd the Fuehrer has addressed. The results of Herr Hitler's four years of dictatorship and deprivation of political freedom could be plainly read on the apathetic faces of the listeners. Anti-Christian prejudices inculcated in German youths are causing an outbreak of sacrilege throughout the Roman Catholic portion of Germany. The Vatican City correspondent of the Telegraph says Herr Hitler's attack on the churches has made a painful impression, as officials had been led to believe that he desired friendly settlement.
