HAMILTON PARTY'S SUCCESS BAG OF'' 149 IN TWO DAYS [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Monday A party of five sportsmen from Ham- ' ilton who Visited the Kopuru district over the week-end secured 149 duck in the two days. Only one man failed to secure the limit of 15 on each of the two days.

There is an abundance of hens, but very few cocks. Those that have been secured had remained during the closed season near farms, •running in some cases with poultry. It is several years now since a. full closed season has operated in Northern Wairoa, and evidence of this may bo seen by the poor bags of pheasants which sportsmen now obtain. Many sportsmen are of the opinion that a close season should be applied for next year. Good bags of ducks have been secured. only in certain i)laces on tho river.

THE KAIKOHE DISTRICT SHORTAGE OF PHEASANTS [by TELEGRArn OWN* COHIIESPONDKNt] KAIKOHE. Monday Sportsmen who went after, pheasants on. Saturday were disappointed with the results they obtained. There was no open Reason last year, and the limit bag for pheasants has been reduced from 10 to eight, but no full J ja gs have been reported. The best so fur have totalled five, and a number of these wore obtained by parties of two. ]Jy a ji accounts there is a definite shortage of pheasants.
