[BT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION"] PALMfeHSTON NORTH, Tuesday Dairy factory managers and assistants from all parts of the North Island, and some from the South Island, are in Palmerston North at present attending the annual week set aside by the Dairy Research Institute to give. "them an opportunity of getting acquainted with the research activities of the year. The programme includes lectures on a wide variety of subjects connected with the dairying industry, Professor W. R iddet, director, reviewed the activities of tho institute since its establishment approximately 10 years ago. It was not until January, 1929, ho wever, that intensive research work was commenced. In the first few years attention was given mainly to cheese-making problems, because these were getting more, difficult. Since those days more attention had been given to butter problems and more recently the H ~ or K had been extended to a study of the influence of pastures on the quantity and quality of dairy products.
