FAMILY DIFFERENCE
ADMINISTRATION OF ESTATE SUPREME COURT ACTION [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION*] WELLINGTON, Tuesday The conduct between 1917 and 1924 of the late Captain Thomas Eckford's inter-island shipping business was tho subject of litigation which began in tho Supreme Court between Rachel Ellen Shugar, of Manurewa, and Muriel Mary Lucas, of Lower Hutt, married daughters of Captain Eckford, who were the plaintiffs, and Charles Alexander Eckl'ord, of Blenheim, shipping manager, defendant. The plaintiffs sought an order for accounts and an inquiry into the conduct of the shipping business, alleging breaches of trust in connection with the administration of that part of the estate. The allegations were denied by the defence. In evidence, Mrs. Shugar detailed her connection with her father's office and subsequent efforts she made latterly to have the estate's affairs investigated, all of which failed until 1932. Following further evidence, counsel for the defendant moved for a nonsuit, submitting that there was little real evidence to support any of the remedies the plaintiff sought. Mr. Justice Ostler said he Mould probably give judgment on the nonsuit point to-morrow morning.
