LICENSING DRIVERS
PROPOSED METHOD OPPOSED The proposals for alterations in the law relating to" the issue of motor drivers' licences were criticised by the chairman, Mr. H. 10. McHntee, at the Papakura Town Board meeting. He said it would seem that the City Council would become a licensing body for the district. The loss of revenue to the hoard might mean that one employee would Ipse his position. Mr. G. F. McDonald advised caution until the proposals were better understood. The issue of licences by a central body would tend to uniformity. Fines from Court proceedings would, he assumed, go to the Main Highways Board, as that body's inspectors were practically the only ones taking ceedirigs. The question was referred to a subcommittee consisting of the chairman, Messrs. 1). Weir and J. llichardson, for ft report.
