COROMANDEL COUNTY

J MAINTENANCE OF ROADS [iiy telegraph—OWN correspondent] COROMANDEL, Monday After several members had protested at the expense, the Coromandel County Council decided at its last meeting to comply with tho request of the assistant engineer, Public Works Department, to carry out urgent repairs to the ColvillePort Jackson Bond. Tho chairman, Mr. 11. Campbell, said the maintenance of tho Port Jackson road was going to be extremely heavy, but the council had to face it, having given a guarantee of maintenance. The council was now suffering through the continued demands of councillors to have roads constructed all over the county. The work on the Port Jackson road would be continuous for years. By the narrow margin of one vote the council confirmed the resolution passed in March that certain roads in the county should become main roads. The resolution included roads at Tairua, Kuaotunu, To Rorenga, Port Jackson, Kennedy's Bay and Port Charles.
