EDUCATED IN INDIA
GIRLS FROM FIJI After spending nine years in an Indian finishing school in the Punjab, four Indian girls, dressed in rich, colourful sari robes, created interest when they descended from the gangway of the Alariposa at Princes Wharf on Saturdav. Travelling to their homes in Fiji, they are accompanied by Air. and Mrs. P. Amichandra and Mr. and Mrs. S. Sbarma, who are teachers in Fiji. All tho women of the party were attired in national dress. Shy and reserved, but of striking appearance, the six Indian women left the vessel for a brief tour of Auckland. The girls expressed excitement at the prospect of returning to their families m Fiji, where they received the earlier part 'of their schooling. Fifty natives from the Fijian Islands are studying at the Kanya Mahavidyulalva, in tho Punjab, where, with European and native education combined, the curriculum includes .almost all the subjects taught in Britislb schools.
