CLUB COMPETITIONS MATCHES AT MIDDLEMORE GOOD TEST FOR PLAYERS Golf courses were in excellent order during the.week-end, when competitions were held by the, various clubs. With a fairly strong south-westerly wind.' Middlemore provided a much better test of golf than that, at Easter. A four-ball bogey competition was played and K. M. Wilson and G. W. S. Williams, two young players who performed well in the provincial tournament, were the winners with a card of 4 up. T. E. Clark and V. W. Wilson, and K. McKenzio and B. B. Armstrong were next, each pair finishing 3 up. The first round of the Tyler Memorial Cup. an event which is decided on the best four of six medal rounds, was played at Akarana. A medal handicap which was held in conjunction was won by A. B. Saunders, who returned a card of 71 net. J. Swanson and H. W. Bennett were next, while S. A. Schneideman was the best of the juniors. With a total of 35 points. J. S. Hankin won. the senior Stableford bonev competition at Maungakiekic. J. L. Gregory being beaten on the countback. In the B grade M. I{. O'Shea scored a decisive win. as his 40 points were six better than the runner-up. A medal competition was held at Pupuke and H. Craig and J. Mollard each returned ft card of 70 net, Craig winning on the count back. J. D. Bull and H. Preston, jun.. with a card of 3 j up, were successful 'in a four-ball bogev at North Shore, while three pairs finished 1 up. The scoring at Glendowie was very even, G. Pollock winning with a 69 net. and lie was followed by J. D. Paterson. 70, and G. O'Meara, 71. The annual match plav competition for the Taylor Bowl was commenced at Titirangi, when most of the games in the first round ■were played.
