ELDERLY MAN CHARGED IMPRISONMENT FOR THEFT One month's imprisonment was imposed on "William Knox, labourer and cook, aged 65, who pleaded guilty before Messrs. E. A. Craig and J. R. Self, J.P.'s, in the Police Court on Saturday morning, to a charge of stealing a tennis racquet, a racquet cover and a tennis ball, of a total value of £1 16s 9d, at Auckland on February 24. A charge of stealing 31b. of butter and a packet of cheese valued at 5s 6d from a city store on Friday was brought against Stanley Barker, aged 45, and Mary Isabel Barker, aged 40, both of whom were represented by Mr. Moody. A remand was granted until Saturday on bail of £IOO.
A labourer, James Macken, aged 43 (Mr, Aekins), was charged with being found without lawful excuse on enclosed premises at 26 Richmond Road oil Friday night. He was remanded until Friday, on bail of £SO.
