FLOOD SITUATION
ANXIOUS WATCH I.N BRITAIN
DANGER OF HIGH TIDES
(Received March 23, 6.5 p.m.)
British Wireless RUGBY, March 22 Although the general situation in the flooded Fen, area is slightly more favourable, it is still being watched Anxiously. The water level in Wclney Washes is 2in above the maximum in 1928, but the waters have receded by appreciable amount from the peak of the present critical period.
Catchment Board officials are satisfied at the moment that the position is well in hand, but they point out that next Thursday and Friday, with the coming of the high tides, their efforts probably will have to, be redoubled.
