DICKENS FELLOWSHIP
PAST YEAR REVIEWED Reviewing the past year's activities of tho Auckland branch of the Dickens Fellowship, tho president, Mr. H. C. Robinson, reported at the annual meeting last evening that there had been an increase in membership and that the finances were in a thoroughly sound position, there being an increase in tho value of tho assets and no liabilities. Reference was made to the deaths of Mrs. W. E. Arev, Mrs. Coulter, Mrs. Wood and Mr. Preston Chambers. Mr. Robinson said the nucleus of a fund had been established for the acquisition of a complete Diekensian wardrobe for use in character sketches. Regular visits had been arranged during the year to the little occupants of the fellowship's Dickens cot at tho Auckland Hospital. A "Tiny Tim" outing had been provided on December 5 for a number of crippled children. A ballot on the choice of the book to be studied for the ensuing session resulted in tho selection of "David Copperfield." The following officers were elected: President, Mr. H. C. Robinson; immediate past president, Mr. T. Clarkson; vice-presidents. Miss E. M. Statham, Miss M. Robinson, tho Rev. A. B. Chappell, the Rev. C. E. Perkins, Mf. J. W. Kealy, Mr. J. E. Green; joint secretaries, Mrs. F. Morrison and Mr. A. E. Grindrod; treasurer, Mr. H. E. Jones; auditor, Mr. H. G. Robinson; committee. Mrs. M. MethereH, Mrs. M. F rco, Mr, G. Cruickshank and Mr. T. Vivian.
