EASTER TRAFFIC

HEAVY BOOKINGS ACCOMMODATION PROBLEM Easter is now but a fortnight away, and there is abundant evidence that a -very large number of people are going to take full advantage of the holiday, and that the season is going to be an exceedingly arduous 0110 for all who cater for the travelling public. The Tourist Department is again experiencing the recurrent difficulty of finding sufficient accommodation at all the more popular resorts throughout the country. Bookings for Rptorua have been particularly heavy, and practically all accommodation there is now booked tip. Thb Chateau is also full for. the holiday season, and the position is similar at Waikarcmoana. Inquiries and business already done show that the Easter traffic is going to bo very heavy indeed. Inquiries from a number of loading city hotels show that nearly all are assured of big business throughout the Easter season. Overseas traffic has been unusually heavy this year, and many of tho hotels have experienced comparatively little falling off since tho Christmas and New Year rush. Only one or two of tho hotels showed any hesitation in predicting a great rush of business for Eastor, and they pointed out that it was a little early as yet to know exactly what to expect. With the uncertainty of the weather, many people wore leaving their reservations as late as possible until they made up their minds whether to travel or not.

The great volume of Easter traffic that may bo definitely counted upon is all tho more significant because ithe early date of. Easter, combined with the long extension of the school holidays, has left for many people but a short interval since their last holiday.
