WOODVILLE HORSES CANDIDATES FOR TRENTHAM [from our own correspondent] WOODVILLE. Saturday Tho race he had at Woodville has greatly improved the Limond colt Courtcraft, who is now infusing much more dash into his work. Courtcraft will be produced in the Plunket Handicap 011 the second day at Wellington where he is sure to attract great attention. At Easter he will be at Riccarton to contest the Champagne Stakes. In his only engagement at the "Woodville meeting, Plato raced disappointingly but he had not been asked to do a great deal and since then has been working in good style and bears an improved appearance. Plato is engaged in the Thompson Handicap next week with 8.4 and at his best would have an undeniable chance. The elect of F. Davis' stable for the Pacific Handicap 011 the opening day at Trentham is the Posterity—Eulogy filly Relative. Jll her five starts she lias been placed on four occasions and was considered unlucky to be beaten by Brunhilde at the last "Wellington meeting. Relative has been working well and the longer two-year-old races in the autumn should suit her. She may also take her place in the North Island Challenge Stakes field on the second day at "Wellington.

Tho St. Leger candidate Mandamus was responsible for good races at Woodville and is looking better than ever. The Limond gelding has never been too solid, and consequently a strenuous campaign has not been asked of him in the past. There is no doubting Mandamus' ability to stay and on a firm track 110 should run well at Trentham.-

Although the Lord Quex gelding Haut Monde has not raced just lately there is nothing amiss with him. Haut Monde has been working pleasingly and should strip fit at Wellington. With the handy impost of 7.10 in the Thompson Handicap his chances are regarded very favourably.

The leading two-vear-old Francis Drake is looking in wonderful order at present and although he does not break any records on the track ho is getting through his tasks in pleasing style. His meeting with the latest Southern contender, Haughty "Winner, in the Challenge Stakes is eagerly awaited. TlnfArausio filly Goira is engaged in tlie Plunket Handicap on the concluding day at Trentham. She has made good progress •since acting as runner-tip to Smoke Screen at Woodville when carrying 0.9 and conceding weight to that brilliant colt.

Bumble, the half-brother to Francis Drake, failed to show up in his engagements at Woodville and is to be tried over a distance at Wellington where he is engaged in tho high-weight events. Tho Captain Bunsbv gelding has always shaped well enough on the tracks to have prospects. Golden Treasure, the full-brother to Golden Wings, has made his appearance on the tracks and is looking well after his spell. He is to ho got ready for another trip with H. E. Russell's team to Sydney in the autumn. Mala is ex-pectcd-back in work again at the end of the month. Russell has broken in the full-sister to Golden Wings, a very attractive youngster.
