Roseoe Earns has been sot by Paramount for the lead in "Clarence," a comedy that was made 14 years ago with Edward Everett Horton.
Benita Hume has been given the second feminine lead in Metro-Gold-wyn-Mayer's "The Last of Mrs Cheyney." Joan Crawford is starring.
Ann Sothern is to play opposite Robert Young in Metro - Goldwyn - Mayer's "Dangerous Number." Reginald Owen is also in the cast, with Richard Thorpe directing.
Warner Baxter, Wallace Beery and Mickey Rooney have all been Bigned by 20th Centu'rv-Fox to play in " The Last Slaver." 'J'bis will be the first time Beery and Baxter have ever apocared together.
P. G. Wodchouse is working at Motro-Goldwyn-Mavcr on a scenario called "Yours and Mino." Originally intended as Jessie Matthews' first Hojlywood film, it will now be a co-starring picture for Eleanor Powell and Ray Bolger.
Ketti Gallian is being tested by Paramount for the leading role opposite George l?aft in " Caviare for His Excellency." Akim Tamiroff has a featured role similar to the one ho played in "The General Died at Dawn."
Warner Oland, famous all over tho world as Charlie Chan, has signed a contract with 20th Century-Fox to make a new series dealing with the adventures of tho Chinese detective. Tho first will bo "Charlie Chan at tho Olympic Games." r 1 1 Cecil B. do Mille has definitely decided to postpone " Samson and Delilah, " the film ho was to make next for Paramount. Ho will direct "The Bucaneer" instead. This is a life storv of Sir Henry Morgan, based on a play by Maxwell Anderson. Henry Wilcoxon was previously mentioned for the leading role, but do Millo is now trying to borrow Gary Cooper from Sam Goldwyn.
