LANDLADIES DEFRAUDED
Although ho had never been in the Navy, Adam Main, a fisherman, of Buckle, Banffshire, painted so colourful a picture of life on board His Majesty's warships that he succeeded in duping landladies in five towns in the north of Scotland. In each instance Main departed without settling his bill for board and lodging, or repaying money advanced to him. At Elgin Sheriff Court recently he admitted seven charges of fraud and one of theft. Sentence of four months' imprisonment was passed.
