Sir, —In reply to Mr. Pilcher re the action taken at the recent meeting of the Franklin sub-provincial branch of the Farmers' Union. I may state that I am glad to hear that Mr. Pitcher and many others strongly disapprove of the chairman's views on the recent stay-in strike of freezing workers. T quite understand the position at the time was most difficult to handle, considering that the Labour Government was behind the strikers and determined to back them up in any action they chose to take. T did not suggest or expect the Franklin Union to take direct action, with brickbats or bayonets, etc., but expected that tho meeting of farmers would have carried a resolution without one dissenter, condemning the action of the Government and demanding that in justice thw laws of the country and the rights of private property be respected.
