NEW ROAD CONSTRUCTION
TAUMARUNUI TO TOKAANU [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] TAUMARUNUI, Friday Work cm tho new road now under construction from Tauniarunui, via Ma nunui and Pungapunga, to Tokaanu is proceeding at a good pace. At tho Tauniarunui end the formation is completed well past the L'aorata Trig and men aro now working on from Tuna Saddle. The road is now constructed about ten miles into tho bush above Mannnui, and it majccs a very fine car drive on a fine day, tho surface being good. Drivers will find tho pull fairly stiff, particularly over tho last milo to tho, saddle. At tho Tokaanu end a start has been niaclo ami tho road is being pushed through from a spot about halfway between Tokaanu and Waihi. It will run below steam vents on* tho hillside and will riso to tho top of tho hill at tho back of Waihi. This will bo the heaviest task at the Tokaanu end and will take probably nine months to complete. From there on the construction will be fairly easy.
