TEN WORKERS KILLED SAN FRANCISCO HARBOUR CRASH THROUGH SAFETY NET By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received February 18, 9.30 p.m.) SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 17 Ten men were killed when steel and wooden construction forms crashed from the Golcen Gate bridge and plunged into the water 200 feet below. In all 13 men fell. One saved himself by clutching a rope and two were rescued from the water by coastguards.' One body was recovered. The nine other men have been given up as dead. The two men rescued from the water were treated in hospital for shock and then sent home. Apparently they were not injured. Two workers wore stripping temporary forms from the bridge deck when the carrier wheel snapped. The forms swayed dizzily and then crashed into the safety net, which could not with- 1 stand the strain. The mass plunged down and was swept by strong tides out to sea. This is the first serious accident to have occurred since the beginning of the construction of the bridge, which is to bo opened in May.
