WORK AS A' MANNEQUIN An American society girl, Sarah, Boone Fairfax, who is 6ft 2in in height and who was presented at the fourthJubilee Court, competed recently in London against 40 professional mannequins to earn a guinea a day showing gowns at the next British Industries Fair With her longj thin figure clad in black velvet and sequins, and real diamonds swinging from her ears, Miss Fairfax lilted across the stage of the Fortune Theatre before a committee of British fashion experts. A relative of Lord and Lady Fairfax, she was presented at Court bv Mrs. Bingham, wife of the American Ambassador. " 'ldle rich' just does not count any more in my country," Miss Fairfax, said. "This is my job and 1 like it. Bat the stockings bill! I get through a pair a day.. Of course I like modelling. 1 have posed for artists in New York and have paraded all types of gowns. l»ey say I am the tallest girl in the job. Work keeps my ideas alight, and I like the working girls. Anyway, 1 need the money." , Brunette, with high, Slav cheekbones, her glossy black hair rolled halowise around her brow. Miss I?airfax was the most striking mannequin parading.
