Sunday It is anticipated that within a few months a very imposing meeting house will be built on the famous and historical pa at Whakato Manutuke. All the carvings from the old meeting house ivill be put in the new one, and will add beauty and dignity to the building. These carvings belong to the old typo and are reputed to be among the most famous, not only in this district, but throughout the whole of New Zealand. They are similar in design to some which were purchased by the Government and taken to the Dominion Museum, Wellington.

It is hoped that the new house will bo built by voluntary labour, and a number of qualified men have stated their willingness to assist. With this object in view, gangs have been employed excavating and levelling the site for the new building.
