AUDITORS DECEIVED

MAN'S CLEVER FRAUDS (.'lever frauds by a man who rose from the position of clerk to become a director of a company were denounced recently when tne Criminal Appeal Court dismissed an appeal by Samuel Hughes against a sentence of live years' penal servitude passed at Swansea Assizes for forgery and falsification of accounts. Lord Hewart related that there were 2H counts covering frauds by Hughes for livo years. There were also 412 outstanding charges, which were not considered in his punishment because he would not admit having taken more than £BOOO.
