WEDDING

DAWSON—PIERCE A wedding of widespread interest was celebrated at St. Aidan's Church, Bemuera, yesterday evening, when Barbara Council Pierce, elder daughter of Mrs. AN. Pierce, of Reinuora, Auckland, was married to Hurren Martin Stanhope Dawson, only sou of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Dawson, of Christchurch. The Rev. Melville Harcourt-"\Vybert, of Christcliurch, officiated. The bride, who was given away h t v her brother, Mr. Dan Pierce, wore a beautiful gown of white satin, cut on classical lines, with a full skirt flowing into a long train. Ruehing decorated the high neckline and the long sleeves were full to the elbow. Her veil of white tulle was held in place with bands of white satin and was fastened at the sides of the head with clusters of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of ininiaturo white arum lilies. She was attended by her sister, Miss Cherie Pierce, and her cousin, Miss Eleanor Upton, whose bouffant skirts were of tulle in shades of pale blue, pink, green and cyclamen, the whole combining to give a mauve effect. The bodices were tight-fitting, with low-cut square necklines and small puffed sleeves. They wore headdresses of spring flowers in shades of mauve, pink and I>l no, and carried bouquets of hydrangeas, sweet peas and delphiniums in the same tunings. The bridegroom's attendants were Mr. Charles Purchase, of Christchurch, best man, and Mr. Stuart Hay, groomsman. The ushers were Mr. Bruce Hay, Mr..Douglas Limn. Mr. Max Gutin, and Mr. Godfrey Kipling. Mauve, pink and blue hydrangeas decorated the church, and the same flowers had been used at the Hemuera home of Mrs. Percy Upton, where the wedding reception was held. The guests were received by Mrs. AY. Pierce, who wore a close-fitting gown of amethyst blue suede, with long, flowing sleeves and a square-cut neckline, Her cyclamen flower hat was matched by her bouquet. Mrs. 15. Lewis, grandmother of the bride, was in a gown of black cloque and lace, with a black hat. Aunts of the bride who were present were Mrs. Percy Upton, who wore black and pink floral crepe; Mrs. Percy 'Williams, of Paihia, black flat crepe; Mrs. A. B. Roberton, black Chantilly lace; Mrs. M. Mays, of Wellington, navy and white georgette; Mrs. ,J. OvertonSmith, of Wellington, navy crepe suede relieved with silver; ?>lrs. Douglas Hay, black Chantilly lace: Mrs. Carlton Hay, cobweb grey lace; Mrs. J. Tole, black Chantilly lace; and Mrs. Walter Pavitt, royal blue lace. Mother Hannah and Miss Matilda Dawson, aunts of the bridegroom, were also present, the latter in a gown of black suede relieved with white. Miss M. Grant, the bridegroom's cousin, wore spring-tinted crepe fleuri. The bride travelled in a frock of nut-brown French crepe, worn beneath a matching cloth coat with a skunk collar. Bunches of small green flowers trimmed her close-fitting brown velvet hat and were also used as finishing touches for the frock. Mr. and Mrs. Dawson left for the south after the wedding.
