BOY'S BODY FOUND
FLOATING IN MANUKAU INJURIES TO THE HEAD The body of a boy named Clyde Neville Gillott, aged 13, was found floating in the surf off Weymouth Beach at about 7.30 on Monday evening, and subsequently it was found that there was a fracture at the base of the skull and also a deep gash across the eyes. The boy, a ward of the State, had been staying with his foster mother, Mrs. A. M. Jones, at Weymouth, being on holiday from the Oamaru school for backward children. At an inquest which was opened by the coroner, Mr. T. F. Snell it was stated by Dr. C. Campbell Jenkins that the body had apparently been floating in the water for over an hour. It was clad in long bathing trunks. The inquest was adjourned sine die to enable further evidence to be obtained. FATE OP SHIP'S FIREMAN DISCOVERY AT WELLINGTON [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] WELLINGTON, Wednesday The body of Mr. Edward McDermott, aged 33, ship's fireman, who had been living in Wellington, was recovered from the harbour early this morning. It is understood that deceased had been in ill-health for some time past.
