"OLD YEAR" PARTY
ENTERTAINMENT FOR SEAMEN Over 100 wore present at the Flying Angel Missions Hall last night when cadets from the American training ship California State and merchant scam on from 'various steamers in port were entertained at ari "old year ' party. Items were contributed bv -Mrs. L. H. C. Partridge, -Misses Kathleen Boyle and Alma Bray, and Messrs. S. Clarke, Ji. Collison and V. Johnson. Music for dancing was supplied by the orchestra from the liner Rangitane. At the conclusion a service was conducted in the Mariners' Chapel by the J?ov. H. K. Yickery. Cadets from the California State were defeated by 15 points in a shooting match yesterday by a team representing the Legion of Frontiersmen. In a race between whaler teams from the California State and H.M.S. Philomel over a mile course on Tuesday the Americans won by five lengths. Weather permitting, cadets from tbe training ship will play an exhibition baseball game at Victoria Park at 2..'30 p.m. to-day.
