Dec. 27 Six passengers joined the officers and stewards in handling the New Zealand freighter Limerick, which sailed for Auckland to-day, as a sequel to a strike by 31 members of the crew. The action was taken by the crew as a protest against tho use of non-union stevedores in unloading tho vessel on December 21 and the men remained ashore in spite of the advice of the British Consul. The passengers volunteered to take two-hour shifts at the wheel and to aid the four officers, 10 engineers and five sailors who remained on duty. Tho strikers' spokesmen predicted that the New Zealand union would support them. Tho immigration authorities said the strikers would be subject to deportation to New Zealand within (30 days.
