PERENNIAL WHEAT
DEVELOPMENT IN CANADA (Received December 27, 0.5 p.m.) OTTAWA, Dec. 2f: It is announced that the Canadian experimental farms have develo|>ed a perennial wheat, which, although never expected to bo suitable for bread, may be valuable as a forage crop to restore the productive uso of largo areas in drought-ravaged Western Canada. Ordinary strains of wheat were crossTired with Agropvron perennial grass and produced largo wheat-like seeds permitting their being planted on dry lands where small seeded grasses cannot be made to take root.
