HUGE EXHIBITION HALL

CONSTRUCTION IN LONDON DIFFICULT ENGINEERING FEAT / British Wireless RUGBY, Dec. 24 The exhibition building being erected at Earl's Court, London, which, when completed, will house the annual British Industries Fair, and which will bo the biggest structure irt reinforced concrete yet built in Europe, is approaching the stage when the roofing will be placed over the great spans. The central ' snan will be 200 feet by 350 feet. Underneath it there will be an area with seating accommodation for 20,000 people. The lloor of the building incorporates a device by which a section of it will sink to make a swimming pool 200 feet by 100 feet, with a capacity of 2,000,000 gallons. The early stages of construction of the building wore hampered by the necessity for enclosing in tunnels six lines of railway track, without interrupting the service. This difficult engineering feat has been accomplished with only a small departure from the Original schedule of progress.
