FORM AT AWAPUNI PAPER SLIPPER IMPRESSES VICTORY FOR ALLSPICE [Br TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] PALMERSTON NORTH, Saturday Terry, the favourite for the Tararua Handicap, lay in the rear for six furlongs, and when she ran past the leaders in the straight she appeared to have the race in hand. The Buzzer, who delayed his run, came brilliantly over the final furlong and won going away. The pacemaker, Hamarin, weakened to third, with Pango and Free Gold next. The Buzzer gave A. Jenkins his third successive win. Spiral brought oif a mild surprise in the Manawatu Cup, but ho looked well and won decisively, after covering extra ground on the home turn. The race was slowly run early, with Tiger Gain and llona Bay making the pace. Tiger Gain still had charge on entering tho straight, and ho looked all over a winner, as he was holding off all challenges fairly comfortably. However, Spiral's brilliant lute run was irresistible. Quo Whetu also came from tho rear for his third, a performance indicating that he js near his best again, and Limbohm, the fourth horse, was still another to come from tho rear. Dungarvan pulled himself to pieces in the slow early pace and Lowcnborg also disappointed, although he finished solidly into fifth place. Lazybones, <i hot favourite for the Nursery Handicap, failed to get going with his opponents and was back in tho rear all the way, making up ground only when the race was over. He requires a stronger rider. Tho race was won by the other Jticcarton representative Allspice, who, with Laughing Chief, was always in front. Mother-in-law and Gay Molly chased them all the way and tho others wore well back.

Paper Slipper demonstrated his clans by winning tbe Fitzlicrbcrt Handicap decisively. He lay sixth or seventh, but alter Emissary had headed Symeony and Land Tax into the straight, Paper Slipper came with a great run to cut them all down and win going away. Emissary stopped badly in the last furlong, Invoice running on for second from Laughing Lass and Mother Superior, both of whom finished well, as also did Dollar Bill, after getting away in the rear. Scratchings heavily reduced tbe strength of the Gillies Handicap field, and Ned Cuttle, the favourite, just failed to reach tbe Otaki winner, Huntettc, who led all tbe way. Ned Cuttle finished well. Finnesko and Thermidor were next, after following Huntetto to the straight. Orae set a very fast pace in the Grandstand Handicap, and bo had most of tbo field, in trouble a long way from home. Nevertheless, it suited Arctic King, and over the final stages be won going away, Geitel just failing to catch Orac.
