WORKMAN'S LUCKY ESCAPE [BY TEI/EGRAPH OWN CORRESPONDENT ] PALMERSTON NORTH, Saturday Missing death by the smallest of margins, a railway surfaceman, Mr. John Berry, aged 30, of Palmerston North, flung himself clear as the jigger he was riding near Tokomaru this morning was smashed to pieces by an express train. Mr. Berry was proceeding to Palmerston North, and the train involved was a relief express which had left Palmerston North at 11.5 a.m. Mr. Berry suffered a serious cut on his forehead and slight concussion. He Was taken to the Palmerston North Hospital.
