QUARREL WITH PASSENGER

MACHINE'S FORCED LANDING (Received December 21, 7.30 p.m.) PARIS, Dec. 20 After taking off from Villacoublay aerodrome, an aeroplane landed unsteadily in a field near Trappes, but took off again. As passing motorists rushed up they found the pilot staggering about with a bullet wound in the neck. He was taken to hospital at Versailles, where ho stated that a woman passenger, as the result of a love quarrel, had shot him from behind. Both had quitted the machine on landing, but she re-entered it and flew off. The name of the pilot is Pierre Lallemant, and his passenger was Madame Schmeder-Thalleput. They were joint owners of the aeroplane, in which they often entered for competitions. M. Laileniant is to marry another woman this week. His wound is not serious.
